  Bambi Benson Drops Some Exclusive Wedding Details and Says D. Smith Is Messy

Bambi Benson’s roller coaster relationship with Lil Scrappy has entertained Love & Hip Hop Atlanta viewers for three seasons but it was recently revealed that the two are now planning to head down the aisle. VH1 caught up with Bambi to get whatever details we could about their upcoming nuptials, as well as the Bam’s beefs with Jessica Dime and D. Smith.

photos:sexy evening dresses

What did you think when Jessica Dime approached you and told you she’d been FaceTiming with Scrappy?

Bambi: I was obviously annoyed because I feel like that’s the only way she would ever ever be able to be in my presence. Because she’s not a person I would normally be around or kick it with, so she has to find some type of way to be able to even be in my presence. I was actually more mad at Scrap for bringing that type of trash around me.

What did you think of Rasheeda bringing Jessica to you? Did you think that was messy?

At this point with Rasheeda, I feel like she may be a little clueless to some stuff that’s going on. I don’t really fault her for bringing Jessica over at that point because I don’t think it was intentional.

What do you think Jessica’s objective was in talking to you? In her green screen she said she thought it was funny.

I think Jessica was trying, she was reaching to have some sort of conversation with me because we’re obviously two different people. We are from two totally different spectrums of like, we we would never normally ever cross paths. I feel like she was just so thirsty to be in my presence and that was the only thing that she had.

Are you worried about having to see her and Scrappy interact this season? Has he clued you on where this thing goes between them?

He told me, he sat down, and sat down and you know they had like a smoothie or something but he wasn’t feeling it. He thought he was, because, I wasn’t talking to him at all at that point. I don’t really expect anything other for him to be thirsty, of course he’s gonna try to go and do something else but he knows where his heart really is.

What happened with your beef with Jessica on Instagram? Scrappy gave you some roses and sneakers and…

Yes, so he he that was at that point he was still trying to get back with me so he came and he left some roses and some Jordans at my house. I had heard that he had went out with her at that point, so I posted the Jordans and the flowers. And then she posted some Jordans and a gun like a few minutes later. And so of course everybody was like assuming did he buy these for both of them or something. So then I changed my caption and I said some little shady s–t. I don’t think that was a coincidence. I think she was trying to start something at that point. And she did.

Where do you think things stand between you and Jessica now?

I don’t have no beef with Jessica. I don’t, she’s not a person that I would ever ever associate with. I mean she said some things like, she basically threatened me. So, obviously, I’m saying that’s not good but she’s just not a person I would want to be around ever.

  5 things every Connecticut couple should know about their wedding ceremony

Every state has different laws regarding who may perform a marriage ceremony. The state of Connecticut has several key points people may or may not know about, so keep in mind the actual wedding ceremony is the single most important moment in the day and you need to do your homework first.

Wedding and event planner/designer Lisa Antonecchia, who also is justice of the peace, notes that many of her clients come to her to regarding their wedding ceremony and “they very excitedly announce that their cousin or their uncle or their college roommate will be officiating over their wedding. It is certainly a trend to have somebody you know and love pronounce you married on your wedding day. However, it is very important to know the law in your particular state.”

Here are the five top tips for you to consider, courtesy of Antonecchia:

1. WHO CAN PERFORM MY CEREMONY?

AdvertisementIn Connecticut it is very clear, if you are ordained online – you must be an actual practicing ordained minister for a wedding to recognized. In other words, you can’t become ordained simply to perform a friend or relative’s wedding ceremony. I cannot stress this enough, it is so important to make sure in the eyes of the state of Connecticut you are legally married.

Authorized officiants include:

A. Connecticut justices of the peace;

B. Ordained or licensed clergy who have an active ministry in addition to performing marriages;

C. Judges and retired judges;

D. Family support magistrates;

E. State referees.

When a couple comes to me with the request to have a family member perform a service, I can create a lovely ceremony where the family is involved but I can perform the legal portions as required by the state. So you can get best of both worlds, and personalize your ceremony.

2. HOW MUCH DOES A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE COST IN CONNECTICUT?

There is no set fee for a justice of the peace cost in Connecticut. In other words, the JP sets their own fee. This can be based on number of meetings, the time to create your one-of-kind wedding ceremony, location of the wedding ceremony, etc. In the end this number can be different and is not a “industry standard.”

3. WHERE DO WE APPLY FOR OUR MARRIAGE LICENSE?

Your marriage license is to be applied for in the town in which you are going to have the ceremony performed. My suggestion is always to go to the town website in which you are being married for the most current town information. For example:

If you are getting married in Hamden.

Go to the town website as this explains everything you need to know and who you need to see in order to get your license, including fees, the expiration of a license, and more.

Also and super important, some venues or parks are not where you think they are. Literally, for example the Pardee Rose Garden sits on property in both Hamden and New Haven. So make sure you are doing your homework and receive a license from the correct town.

4. What are some important facts about getting married in Connecticut?

A. Does a marriage license expire? Yes it does! So again make sure you understand what the time frame (65 days) is to which you must be married after you obtain your license.

B. Do I need rings to get married in Connecticut? No, wedding rings are not part of the valid Connecticut wedding ceremony.

C. Do we need a blood test? No, there is not blood test required, this went into effect in 2003.

D. Do we need to have witnesses? No, there is no legal need for witnesses to be present at your wedding ceremony.

5. CHAIN OF COMMAND

Your justice of the peace is required by law to take your marriage license and personally mail it or hand-deliver to back to the town official from which you received your license. They do not give it back to you for mailing, this is a proper chain of command, I always mail mine back the very next business day.

What this means is, hire a Connecticut justice of the peace if you are having a ceremony outside of a church or other religious venue, this is the only way to ensure you will be legally married. As a Connecticut justice of the peace and wedding planner, I work with over a dozen other individuals throughout the year, we all have a different style and we all love what we do. So get to it and find a JP who will ensure you are married in the eyes of the law! For more information contact the town your wedding is taking place and or a legal Connecticut justice of the peace, we are all happy to help.

  "Leading Ladies" a dress-up romp by Theatrikos

Aaron Paul and Phillip Baker have received training in the sultry art of Tango from Jayne Lee of Human Nature Dance Theatre, a fencing lesson, and have even had a dialect coach relay the intricacies of British English.

The telegram

photos:red prom dress

But the cap on the drudgeries of their roles as “Leading Ladies,” Theatrikos’ Theatre Company’s latest production, will be mastering lipstick.

With Becky Daggett in the director’s chair, the cast and crew bring to life Ken Ludwig’s “Leading Ladies” at the Doris Harper-White Community Playhouse, 11 W. Cherry Ave., beginning May 27. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinées are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $13-$19. To learn more, call 774-1662 or visit Theatrikos.com.

This season, the Theatrikos players are exploring the topic of home. “Leading Ladies” reflects on the very small town of York, Pennsylvania — and is the only farcical addition to this season, offering a refreshing, funny lead-up to this summer’s poignant drama, “The Gin Game,” and another more serious comedy, “August: Osage County.”

Paul and Baker are Leo Clark and Jack Gable, respectively, and are very far from their own homes as two down-and-out Shakespearean actors from England. They’ve hit such a wall, they’ve resorted to playing the Moose Lodge circuit in PA’s ever-charming Amish Country.

That is, until the pair hears of a York woman approaching the downside of her kick toward the proverbial bucket. Florence, played by Kelly Gibbs, needs to pass along her multi-million dollar inheritance, and Jack and Leo see a perfect opportunity to swoop in as her long-lost nephews.

When they discover “Max” and “Steve” are really nieces, they continue as “Maxine” and “Stephanie,” until they both fall for Florence’s real niece Meg (Niki DeShazo) and her friend Audrey (Zoe Smith), and struggle between outlasting Florence or their own libidos.

Meg is, incidentally, a massive fan of Leo Clark’s work. But her fiancé, Duncan, played by Stephen Root, is immediately suspicious of Maxine and her friend while the others, Doc (Joe Maniglia) and Butch (Kalmar Robertsson), play along.

“It is a hilarious night at the theatre, it is a lot of fun. Every person on this stage contributes to the overall — it’s ridiculous,” Daggett added. “Because it’s a farce it’s got to move very fast, and everyone has to move very fast and stay on top of their lines. The energy required in a show like this is pretty significant.”

Before Daggett gets to work on their makeup, Baker and Paul explained the draw of this funny, silly and maybe even a little sassy, show. While they get to stab each other with wooden swords, mess around with women’s attire and explore the worlds of two new characters, it was also their accents that proved fun.

Baker added, “Whenever I get a chance where I get to do an accent—I like to get to sound completely different from the way I sound.”

“This was harder for me because I’ve done accents in other shows, but they were more cartoonish,” Paul said, noting previous ventures into over-the-top French and German drawls. “But this one was more tricky because it has to be authentic. Just last night I had a dialect coach come in and help with all that because it has to be believable.”

Baker likened the plots of “Three’s Company” to the unraveling in “Leading Ladies” — where the events may not be entirely believable, but the viewers subscribe anyway. While Meg and Audrey play off the ladies’ odd behavior to their English origins, Duncan is suspicious from the start because of Florence’s inheritance to be won.

“Throughout it, there’s this suspension of disbelief in the fast-paced comedy,” Daggett explained. “So, no, they don’t realize they’re actually dudes.”

The devices used to make this play run smoothly, believably and as hilariously as possible fall to the actors’ comedic timing and their on-stage chemistry.

And for how well they play off each other — as women, men or even sword fighters — their side-splitting interactions belie the fact the leading “ladies” had never met before the show’s initial production meetings in April.

As far as the audience reaction, Baker hopes some side pains are felt after the curtain closes. And Paul asserted the cast will be ready to deliver some of the funniest theatre seen all season—pantsuit and all.

With a slight British drawl, Baker reflected, “It has been an adventure, hasn’t it?”
